Hi Vania!

You did a good job on your response! You also pointed out an important idea that we should look at the history critically and objectively, especialy without any personal bias. However, I feel that the Japanese were not genuine in their efforts to assimilate the Ainu. Previously, the Ainu had their social and economic life, and they lived well uninterrupted by the external world. However, when the Japanese came, they considered the Ainu people as barbarians. I believe that this was a selfish attempt from the colonizer's side. If they were genuine, they would not have demanded the Ainu abandon most of their traditions and their economic way of life in favor of the Japanese system. All factors concerned, the Japanese used the concept of protection to impose their imperialism over the Ainu. If they were genuine, they would have considered the Ainu traditions and culture. For instance, if it was on education, they would have considered introducing subjects that related to the Ainu.
